At your first visit we will discuss your concerns and questions regarding your child: Does my child really need orthodontic treatment? Is now the best time to start? If my child has treatment now will treatment be needed again in the future? How long will it take? Will teeth have to be taken out? What are the fees? Will my insurance cover any part of my treatment? Would treatment be for cosmetic reasons only?
A clinical examination will be performed to assess your child's dentition, the general developmental status of your child's jaw structure including any growth imbalances, and any other problems that could benefit from orthodontic correction. Possible treatment options, fees, length of treatment and the best time to start treatment will also be discussed.
In addition to the clinical examination that we complete at this first visit, further diagnostic records are needed. These include a complete x-ray survey of all the teeth, plaster casts of the teeth, a cephalometric x-ray of the entire skull and photographs of the face and teeth. We will assist you in obtaining these records.
